Rates
The five areas in which I provide service are: consultation, design, fabrication, restoration and installation.
Initial consultation: The telephone is fine for first contact, but for me to proceed with your inquires, I will need to have them in writing. In this modern world, e-mail is my first choice, followed by fax and then snail mail.
Consultation: If you would like some help on deciding the type and style of ironwork to use, this is a service I gladly provide. The rate is the basic rate, plus expenses.
Designing: Initial ideas and freehand sketches that go back and forth via fax or e-mail will generally be free of charge. I will inform you as to when I will start billing. Design work cost is based on the basic rate, plus expenses. I'll make an estimate of the cost and will need payment before work can proceed.
Fabrication: All work will have a contract price agreed upon before work proceeds. The cost is based on the basic rate.
A deposit of 50 % is required before work can begin, with payment in full before delivery.
Travel: When necessary for consultation and/or measurements, the fee is the basic rate, plus the cost of transportation, meals, accommodations and any other expenses.
Installation: If delivery and/or installation is necessary, it will be a separate contract from all other work. As each job is unique, the cost will vary. Distance, equipment, number of men, and difficulty of installation will affect the overall cost.
Restoration: I would be pleased to assist you in anyway I can in restoring old ironwork. However please note, I am unable to restore cast iron nor do I work on ironwork bought at the local import store. My area of expertise is in the area of forged ironwork. In the area of repair for modern ironwork, it is often less expensive to completely rebuild as opposed to repairing the damaged ironwork. The rate is the basic rate.
Fee structure: Whatever the work, the fee rate is $50 per man-hour. Daily rate is $350 per man per eight hour day. Work that takes longer than a month, may receive a rate discount.
All terms will be clearly delineated in the contract.
Please note: The purpose of this page is to provide you with a guide as to my rates and fee structure; no part of this page is intended to be a legally binding contract.
